Knowledge Reserve Project

In Nigeria, there are over 2million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) as a result of insurgency attacks by Boko Haram terrorists. Over 60% of them are women and children. The key challenges faced are providing quality healthcare for the families and continuing education for the children in the IDP camps.

The project is designed to provide essential health education for women in these camps in their local language (Hausa) to help them know how to better care for themselves and their young children. The solution is based on the Mavis digital Pen and Talking Book technology and will enable their young children also gain literacy and numeracy skills using the language they understand (Hausa). It will be deployed in a shared model of one pack to 5 families to reduce cost. Solar power kits will be provided. They will be charged a minimal fee of $2/month to ensure sustainability of the project.
